Since these Kauai condo rentals are within the Poipu Beach area you have dozens of Kauai restaurant options, and more than enough activities to keep you busy. (The good kind of busy.) To the east, you’ll find the inviting white sands and gentle waters of Keoniloa Bay. Shipwreck Beach is also right in the area, but this Kauai beach is more for exploration than swimming. From there, it’s just a few miles to historic Koloa Town, the site of the first sugar plantation in Hawaii. The buildings have been authentically restored and now contain quaint shops and small Kauai restaurants. Be sure to stop at Koloa History Center in the middle of town to learn more of the area’s fascinating past. Pick up tropical gifts at Poipu Shopping Village, home to more than 30 different businesses from a French boutique to a T-shirt shop. And when you’re driving around that area, don’t miss the Spouting Horn sea geyser, one of Kauai’s many spectacular wonders.
For some more adventurous Kauai activities, take a cruise boat or kayak up the sacred Wailua River to Fern Grotto. It’s a site to behold, along with the grasslands with Mount Waialeale looming in the background. Further exploration by car could take you to Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Bay, or even the beaches where Elvis danced in Blue Hawaii. Who knows, if the condo rentals at Makahuena at Poipu were around back then, Elvis might have stayed here.
